Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has announced that there will be road closures between State Highway 1 between Tokoroa (south of Campbell Rd) and Kinleith (at the SH30 intersection, north of Gull Atiamuri) and it will be closed continuously (closed 24/7 in both directions) from 5.00am on Mon 07 October for a six week period (until mid-November), subject to weather conditions.
During this period all light vehicle through-traffic will be detoured via SH32 & SH30 via Whakamaru (using Maraetai Rd in Tokoroa, Whakamaru Rd and Ongaroto Rd in Atiamuri) adding approx 20-30 minutes to journey times. Heavy vehicles should use SH5 via Rotorua.
Multiple worksites will be on SH1 between Campbell Rd in Tokoroa and the northern SH30 intersection in Kinleith. Emergency services will always have full access through the worksites as required, while resident access will be maintained at all times during the works, however residents will need to liaise with traffic control teams onsite during this 24/7 closure.
